Kerala:Past & Present Development

Kerala could be named as the cultural capital of India as it has a blend of many old traditions & customs. About one century before, Keralites refused to have western education & culture fearing that it would result in the extinction of their Beautiful Culture. However, Today Keralites are in the top in the field of education field in India, which is a great achievement from being zero.
Eventoday, Keralites have great pride about their customs & religional beliefs. Eventhough there was many religious fights in the earlier centuries, today the people in Kerala are living a calm & peacefull life. Kerala is the Indian state which had a great change in its atmosphere in the past two centuries. People started loving Western Culture, People had thoughts of development in their mind & untie many old unwanted customs burdens
An image of a bullock cart from the early 90s. Now we cannot see any of these carts in Kerala.
People have switched onto Motorbikes, Carts, Trains & other modes of transportation. We live in an era where even air travelling is possible.
KSRTC Buses had been a great profit generating field for the Kerala Government. Here is the pictre of Ernakulam Bus stand about 1 century back
The image shows how backward the Keralites were in the field of development.
The above image shows the present day Ernakulam Bus stand.
Every government would be able to bring development only when their citizens are favouring for the development & better infrastructure. That is a true fact in the case of Kerala. The two images above is a perfect example for it.
So, this is all about the past & present development in Kerala

Kerala: Snake Boat Race

Snake Boat race is one of the most ancient games in Kerala. It actually originated as a sport among other ONAM games. But it had the ability to impress the Keralite minds than any other games.

Snake Boat race is called in Kerala as Vallamkali (malayalam). And the boats are called as Chundanvallam. Chundanvallams are special type of boats, with high narrow ends & a long middle part where the rowers are seated.

There are about 20-30 Rowers in a boat & one director to promote the rowers. Whilre they row they sing ancient kerala songs, which brings pride in their minds, and thereby gain more strength.

In ancient times, Boat race was just a simple sport, but today it has grown much more than that. Today there are awards for the winners which include trophys as well as money. One of the famous Boat race championship is the Indira Gandhi Memorial Boat Race.

It is quite awesome to see how these boats move. They seem to be like a millipede. All the rowers being the legs of the millipede.

Overall it is cool sight, which resulted in great foreign attraction.

That's all about Kerala Snake Boat Race
Hope You Guys liked it..!!

Typical Kerala Village

India was very much backward in the field of development. From the middle of 16th century India had been under the rule of various Western Powers like British, France & others. Britain's long term rule had made many development in Indian infrastructure. Day by day as India develops, the ancient villages are getting extinct
Though it is a fact that we need development, at the same time we are losing our friendship with mother nature. All the cool childhood within the village border would be the perfect for any individual.

Today,  the world is immersed in technology. Even 5 year old children are owners of smartphone. Why has our world changed to such an extend? None of the current generation is having any relation with the mother nature.

Such a kind of life is not worth Living. Missing all the wonders of the life for technology. Actually the persons who had their childhood in the 80s & 90s had the perfect childhood because they lived in the era when technology hadn't hindered the human life.

The views of villages are a sweet relax to our mind. Especially those of Kerala. Kerala is called the God's own country because it has the ideal climatic conditions for a human's living. And it is also gifted with a cool plants.

The elephants are a great part of the kerala culture.

These are some of the heart warming pictures of the kerala culture & gramams.

So, Indians hold the first ever known martial art. Kalaripayattu was very famous mostly in South India.

Bu today, Kalaripayattu has its influence in other countries too. It is being taught in many foreign nations all around the world

Traditional Kathakali

Kathakali is one of the best form of art in Kerala. Actually it is a form of dance which was invented in the early 15th century. Each play depicts a part from the Ramayana, Mahabharatha & other Religious books.

From Mahabharatha each scene depicts each short stories. Currently there are two players at a time. One male & female. They act with mostly facial expressions. Firstly Kathakali had a resemblance with Ramanattam & Krishnanaatam. But Kathakali had a superiority over these because kathakali used the native language Malayalam over Sanskrit.

Kathakali has succeeded in rapid growth that today it has a wide range of foreign attraction. Kathakali is a South Indian Art of Dance. It has wide influence in the North India. The dancers of Kathakali are very had to find in the current developing era. The fear in every Keralite's mind is whether like many other cultural aspects, will Kathakali gets dropped away?

So, Kathakali has been a great part of the Kerala Culture
